About Lisa

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited to be on this journey with Kimberly and I thank you for following us and rooting us on!

A little bit about me:
  • I'm a 26 year old living in San Francisco with my wonderful husband Kevin and our beautiful 2 year old dog Lola.
  • Kevin and I are fairly new to San Francisco and to Northern California.  We were both born-and-raised in Long Beach and decided to move to SF during the summer of 2009 and couldn't be happier with our decision!
  • I work for a private university as the Admissions Counselor and Registrar for a Teacher Education program.  My goal in life is to become a middle school history teacher so hopefully in the next couple of years when California gets its act together in terms of public education I will be able to call myself that!  (Okay, getting off my soapbox...for now ;) ).
  • I graduated in 2005 from the University of Redlands with a BA in US History, Women's Studies and Race & Ethnic Studies.
  • I love traveling!  I've lived in Nicaragua and visited Mexico, Cuba and Australia.
  • I'm slowly (but surely) on my way to calling myself a pescetarian (think vegetarian who eats fish).  I'm taking it slow so that I can ensure that I do it successfully!  When I was 12 I swore off pork because I loved piggies so much but in recent years started eating it again.  So naturally pork was the first meat to go, beef will be next, then chicken will be last.
So why am I running?

All my life I've battled with my weight and, as a result, my self-esteem.  I didn't grow up playing sports so have never been a super athletic, fit person.  For years I've desperately wanted to change that without any major success so I'm really excited to have made this fresh determination to change my life and to be doing that with such a great friend!
